books to read
i have quite a few in the hopper but i also have a feeling i’ll forget and pick up something completely random. so, mostly to remind myself and stay on track, here’s what needs to be read coming up:
- super sad true love story (almost done)
- blood, bones and butter (need to finish. yes, i read two books at a time)
- catcher in the rye (for the first time!)
- instant love (because i met Jami last month and she seemed lovely)
- a visit from the goon squad
- metropolitan life (learning to be more like Fran)
what else should be on this list? what are you reading?
Mitchmatic - “Why Don’t You Know?”
this week’s All Songs Considered was seriously good. the most fun to come out of it is this terrifically light-hearted little track. enjoy!

my friend Andy and i were in homeroom together for four years. this week, his film showed at Sundance, where Anthony Mackie threw him a party, and today, our hometown paper wrote a story on him. the similarities between us really ended at homeroom.
despite years of living in the same city, i very rarely see Andy (getting Columbia people below 110th St. is as difficult as getting Brooklynites to the UWS). i’d always get a late night message from him asking me to watch one clip or another, to vote for this video and that; i’ve never seen someone so completely dedicated to their dream.
Andy gets back this week from the excitement out west and i’ll hopefully get to hear all about it. of course, i’m wildly jealous of his success but also insanely thrilled it’s finally happening for him.
