A play-by-play of Harvard grad Jeremy Lin and Stanford grad Landry Fields’ new handshake:

  1. Two quick high fives on opposite hands.
  2. Landry Fields presents his hands to Jeremy Lin as though they are a book.
  3. Lin “pages” through the book.
  4. Fields closes the book.
  5. Both Lin and Fields put their hands to their eyes as though they are glasses.
  6. Both players “remove” their glasses and put them into an invisible shirt pocket.

this is adorable. i want to start doing this. who wants to practice with me?

rivaling what you may have read in the Times this morning about “vintage-style glasses online,” is a story i’ve been working on for the past two months. and if the NY Times couldn’t wait to run it, we couldn’t either.
The ‘Seenster’ Set
With expertly designed websites, young urbanite models and cheap chic frames, a fresh crop of optical e-tailers is bringing new competition to the market.

The internet isn’t new. Buying glasses on the internet isn’t new either. But a new wave of online-only optical retailers is switching up the way e-tailing looks where eyewear is concerned and striking a chord, particularly with younger consumers. Companies like Tortoise and Blonde, Bonlook, Mezzmer, Classic Specs, Lookmatic, Sneaking Duck, Eyefly and Warby Parker are playing up the “fast fashion” model and bringing a hipster-cool aesthetic to the world of online optical.  Read more.

The recently released biography of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs isn’t the only thing that’s selling well in recent weeks. Apparently shoppers are snatching up the tech icon’s favorite eyeglasses too.
Sales of German-made Lunor Classic Rund PP eyeglasses have “dramatically increased,” since Jobs’ death. That’s according to The Wall Street Journal, which talked to Power Bloom, a distributor of the $450 eyewear. A Power Bloom representative told the outlet that the numbers sold are in the hundreds, representing a spike from typical sales of that particular model.

i love when ridiculousness, pop culture and eyewear come together because it makes my job easier and more fun. like when rick ross decides to get the cazal logo tattooed on his face. i mean, i like cazal. they are a lovely frame brand if you’re into incredibly over the top, super loud sunglasses - which i’m assuming rick ross is.but no matter how much i like someone’s sunglasses (here’s looking at you, claire goldsmith), i will never ever in the history of my life, get their logo tattooed on my face. or anywhere. but especially not on my face.

Larry and Dennis Leight, the founders of Oliver Peoples, were approached by Anthony Peck (a longtime customer and Gregory’s son), who was given the pair worn by his father in the film. Anthony’s after-school visits to the set on the Universal lot made him acutely aware of the power of those frames. “Every prop and part of Atticus Finch was infused with the firmness and deep reassurance that my father gave to that character,” he says.

these are completely beautiful! we were just talking about them in the office

i came across this lovely photo while talking about “three days of the condor” just now. while it’s not a movie i particularly love, the styling is absolutely fantastic! i mean seriously, how can you go wrong with this outfit? and robert redford in it!
it was watching “three days” on a particularly cold saturday in pennsylvania that inspired me to get ophthalmic aviators (a pair i have yet to have my prescription added to) but it’s also what inspired robert marc to create his limited-edition condor sunglass - which is also completely beautiful
