this one clip made me love Suburgatory and the Kelly Clarkson song. it’s pretty terrific all around:

“AND WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO WHILE YOU’RE DOING THE UNDERPANTS CHARLESTON WITH THAT INSANE, BLIND TART?!”
-Bernard Black, “Black Books”
Go watch it, you’ll thank yourself.

after how much i loved “The IT Crowd,” i’m giving writer/creator Graham Linehan another try and watching “Black Books.” will let you know how it goes

The IT Crowd Series 2 Bloopers
i spent the past week watching “The IT Crowd” and i definitely feel that more than a little emotionally connected with poor Jenn.

tv talk: “Suburgatory”
since i love watching tv shows regularly now, i’m forever looking for new shows to watch. this weekend, i watched “Suburgatory” and it passed my laugh out loud test - meaning, i laughed out loud watching it (it’s a very simple test really). bonus: there’s a character named Dalia, which is a little like Delia if you switch a letter or just say my name wrong
looks like i’ll be following it a bit longer. i recommend - it’s really very cute in the way that ABC shows have been in the past (see also: “Pushing Daisies” and “Happy Endings”)

oh no, they’ve fired pazzz!
what the heck is going on with that show? if not for sexy sexy michael pitt and crazy crazy pazzz, what’s keeping me from going back? (habit, probably, coupled with an incessant need for intense drama)

particular concerns: “Girls”
i am having a lot of mixed feelings about this new HBO show. i hated “Tiny Furniture.” it was a poorly written, worse acted and generally self-indulgent time suck. i spent the majority of the movie shouting “do some volunteer work!” at the screen.
i also hate that this show exclusively stars the daughters of very successful people. not that children of people who are successful shouldn’t also be successful. but come on, there’s no denying the power of nepotism. Lena Dunham is not that talented. yes, i admire that she made a movie and that she’s a female filmmaker in an industry we’re forever being told is devoid of them. fine, she’s a a person with a vagina making movies (her, not the vagina - though i’m sure that’s not far off). but none of this should mask that she’s still not very good.
mostly, i hate that i will probably watch this and relate to it. and not because it’s relatable, but because it’s been designed that way. which is worst of all. all things that seek out to “capture the millenial twentysomething milieu” by setting up shop in brooklyn and making pithy pop culture references make me want to type out BARF in all caps all over my screen.
